Mission And Goals

Mission Statement:

We believe the time has come for the employees of the King County Library System to join together to ensure that we have a voice in the many decisions that impact the present and future services we provide to our communities. We believe the energy and creativity of employees can be more effectively utilized to produce an efficient and friendly organization that both the employees and the public can be proud of. We believe this can be accomplished by forming a union.

Goals:

To obtain the ability to negotiate and create a legally binding and enforceable contract that addresses all matters pertaining to our wages, benefits and conditions of employment such as transfers, overtime, promotions, seniority, job descriptions and reclassifications. To provide a framework for communication with the administration that facilitates employee input and active participation in decisions that impact our work environment and service priorities. To have a voice in the formation of policies that are equitable, fair and consistently applied. To create an employee organization that promotes effective communication among our many locations and enables us to better appreciate one another as individuals and to better understand our mutual issues and concerns while working together as a team. To gain the dignity and respect that creates high employee morale and a positive work environment and, in doing so, better serve the communities that support and rely on us.
